Hallie was hospitalised for HFMD

Last Wed (25th Nov) Kyrie came home from school with fever and the next day she told me her throat was very painful. I called her usual Paed but she was on holidays and therefore I brought her to see my company’s GP. The doctor found 3 ulcers in her mouth but nothing on her feet and hands. We were told to observe for the next few days for sign of HFMD.

She recovered pretty quickly and we thought it was a false HFMD. My mom kept insisting is not and it only body heat and we feed her lotsa of “ling yeung”. In fact by Saturday she was up and jumping and looking forward to her school’s first concert. My baby is performing on stage!!

Sunday we went to Swensen for brunch because I felt like having American breakfast. Half way during the breakfast, Hallie my wai sek baby was fussy and refused to eat. She kept yawning and by the time I “swallowed” my breakie and carried her, she was hot like an oven. We immediately brought her home and I fed her paracetamol. Around 3 pm she was so hot that we decided to bring her to the A&E since all clinics were closed. The doctor at the A&E inserted a suppository into her buttock to bring down the fever and he also found a few ulcers in her mouth. Bumper!!

Whole of  Sunday night, my baby was in extreme pain. She cant eat, drink nor sleep. She was crying the whole night. I called up another Paed but he was on leave too. Why all Paed have to go on leave together. We got no choice but to bring her to see a new Paed we bumped into at the hospital. The doctor claimed that hers was no HFMD and basically viral infection. I requested that Hallie be admitted but this Paed refused. Second night we suffered the horror of cries, tears and hunger. I really hated the doctor then. Why cant she admit her so she wont be dehydrated and in pain.

Tuesday morning (1st Dec), after I sent Kyrie on the school bus, I paged the hospital for our usual Paed because I knew she would be back on that day. She called me back and asked us to meet her at the hospital ASAP. The moment our Paed saw her, she confirmed is HFMD and it only affected the mouth, throat area. Hands and feet would not have any rashes nor blisters. Immediately she put Hallie on the drip and started her on antibiotic and some mouth spray plus gel. The whole Tuesday, baby was still in pain and kept crying the whole day in the hospital. She only went to sleep at 10 pm since she woke up at 730 that morning. Imagine we have to take turn to carry for 15 hours straight.

Wednesday, Hallie was much better. She willing to take some milk but still refused to suck on her bottle. At least she willing to play on her own and sit on the bed instead of koala-ing us the whole time. By Thursday, my little baby can be discharged from hospital. In total she spent 3D/2N

Photos below was taken on Friday before she fall sick. Check out the cheeky look.

That’s the way my baby does her “CHEESE”

See her drip on her left foot. She keep telling me “pain pain”.

Dear baby, please get well soon.

Osim Massage Chair

No, no, no…..we didnt purchase any massage chair from Osim. Not like we can afford one anyway..:P

If you can’t afford one, must try to improvise what you have at home and make do with it. This is what I saw this morning after I came out from the shower.

So clever, even know how to use the pink Ikea stool to prop up her legs!!

Watching Nickelodeon on TV.

Total cost of this new Osim massage chair without any massage function is less than $10. Btw, the car seat was given to me by an ex-colleague. (FOC)

Hallie pening kepala

I was unable to capture any photos during the game because all chasing after the shuttle instead of hitting it. After 5 minutes, both the Singapore and Bangladesh teams threw in the towels and decided to run around like terrorists around the corridor.

P/S: Did anyone notice that the Bangladesh player is wearing a cheongsum?

Cough, Cough Go Away

Currently, the noise from my household is very similar to the TB Ward. The kids are still coughing non stop since the last 3 trips to the Paed clinic. This morning I brought both of them there again as Hallie has vomited 6 times last night. We ended up waking up changing sheets and pillowcase the whole night. *Yawn* I’m so tired now.

Paed’s conclusion was both have sensitive airway that causes them to cough especially at night. Now both is on one month of Singlair tablets that cost a bomb as well as Bambec.

Hallie @ 19 months old

At 19 months old, she behaves like a 19 years old teen. Very difficult to handle and like to whack people. If you make her mad, she would hit you and if still not satisfy, she will pinch you hard. I tell you, her pinch is really painful.

She knows that when she did something wrong and send to the naughty corner, she is not suppose to move but to pull both her ears. Occasionally she will say, “tai pai mm kum” meaning “I won’t do it again” I wish she meant what she said. Most time is “NATO”.

Her vocab and understanding have improved tremendously. Now she can even string 2 words into 1 sentence. Current favourite words are, “I DON’T WANT” & “I DON’T KNOW” When you ask her to do something which she doesnt want, then the classic answer, I don’t want. Alternatively, if she’s lazy then the answer would be I don’t know. She is our current little helper at home. After her bathe, just pass her the dirty clothes and she will bring it to the kitchen area and dump it into the red bucket. If you pass her a little litter, she would bring it to the dusbin and throw inside. At the same time she is also our little menace who likes to distrub us when we do things. For example, when I try to turn on the dvd player, she will walk over and say, ” I DO”. Instead of helping, she will turn off the main switch / plug. Recently I bought a tupperware as a water container which hasa  small tap. Both girls love it. Kyrie would drink water non stop so that she can go fill water all the time. Little Menace, on the other hand, will go near the tap, exclaim, “I touch” and turn the tap on. Water would flow out and she would say, “ohh ohhh” “tai tai” ( beat beat)

Every morning she looks forward to sending her Jie Jie to school. The moment Kyrie is ready, Hallie would scream, “yeah” march towards the door and put on her slippers. We would go downstairs and wait for school bus together. After Kyrie boarded the school bus, I would ask Hallie where is her Jie Jie.

Me: Hallie, where is Jie Jie.

H: *think hard* Go skool. (Previously she would say ooi ooi)

Me: Ok. Then Hallie go where?

H: I go kai kai!!!

Me: No, so early cannot go kai kai.

H: go walk walk? hold my hands and signal I walk towards market.

Me: No, I don’ t want to go market. I want to go home.

H : I DON’T WANT!!!! ( Classic answer)

Food and milk vice, still same as previous month. Her skin is getting thicker or I don’t know if she is getting more stubborn. She used to cry abit when she had immunization jab but for the last 3 jabs, all she did was, “ouch pain” No tears nothing. I think she is braver than her sister or me!!

Popo Birthday

Yesterday was Popo’s 69 birthday. Since everybody at home still coughing, I decided not to buy a cake. I bought pandan cheese roll instead.

As usual Kyrie is the most excited one. She sang the birthday song in both version,  English and mandarin and clapped the loudest. In fact she was the one who blew the candle as well because Popo was too shy to blow candle.

My little Hallie as usual the grumpy look while Papa carried her.

Kyrie’s verdict was the cake very very delicious. She wanted to bring 1 slice to school tomorrow to share with her Teacher Sonya.

Grumpy Hallie took a few bites, but woke up at night and threw up twice. Sigh..

Kids’ Fav Place

Every weekend you ask Kyrie where she wants to go, her standard answer is I want to go Seiyu. Last Sunday after our dinner at Putien Restaurant, we went to the new City Square mall. Sad to say, there’s nothing much to see and explore. We decided to go back to the girls’ favourite joint, Seiyu since they have the puzzle we wanted to buy.

Kyrie is very into puzzle these days. She is able to complete her 20 pieces Mickey Mouse rather easily and keep asking for new puzzles. The moment we got to the Kids’ level, she totally forgotten about her puzzles and went straight to the Kiddy Ride Section. She wanted to play some games which I said NO because we are here to buy puzzles and not to play games. She got upset and told me to wait outside while she and her daddy need to do something inside. Haha, sounded so serious hor?

Everybody is coughing and sneezing

Sigh….since the last post, not only Kyrie was sick, I caught her virus and so was Popo. Then I passed it to Hubby and lastly now Hallie caught the bug too. The youngest seem to be have the highest resistance level. Her cough was initially quite mild until yesterday. She threw up twice at home and been coughing the whole night. This morning I asked hubby to bring her to the Paed just to make sure she’s ok.

Hubby just called and mentioned that Paed has given us the same medicine that I have been feeding Hallie for the past 1 week. See, after 2 kids, I can be my kids own doctor. I basically knew what med to feed them based on their symptoms. Sometimes, my maid calls me Dr Lau. Hehehe

Weekend Outing

Yesterday, we brought the kids to the nearby park to cycle but Mr Wong suggested that we go East Coast Park instead. Off we went without any preparation. We dumped Kyrie’s bicycle in the car boot and drove off.

Upon reaching there, Papa went to rent a dual seaters bicycle that came with a child seat. Our intention was the 2 adults cycled with Hallie in the child seat whereas Kyrie can cycled her own bicycle. The moment she saw out bicycle, she went screaming about riding with us and refused to pedal her own bicycle. She then refused to let her sister to be seated on the child seat. We ignored her and told her that either she follow us or she can stood there with Popo. She chose the later which was fine with us.

We went round with Mei Mei seated behind me. I was abit worried because I cant see what’s she doing. I can felt her using her head knocking on my back. Later, I told Papa to go back and changed the bicycle into a single seater with a child seat in front. I feel safer this way.

We let Kyrie went on the first ride where Mei Mei seated on her own stroller. Papa went off whereas Mei Mei and I took a strolled to the nearby stalls to buy bubble tea.

When Papa came back, Kyrie agreed to swap with Mei Mei. It was Mei-Mei’s turn to go for her ride whereas I pushed Kyrie back to the rest area to meet Popo.

About 15 minutes later, from far I saw Papa cycled back but I can’t see Mei Mei. I got abit worried and Popo exclaimed loudly that Papa was holding to her head. My initial thought was they fell. When they reached the rest area, we realised Mei Mei has fallen asleep in her child seat!!! Hahaha, must be the bumpy ride plus sea wind that made her sleepy. When we removed her from the seat, she woke up and smiled at me and immediately plunked her head on my shoulder and continued sleeping.

When went to had lunch at McDonald nearby where Hallie continued to Zzzz. When she woke up, she saw the french fries and immediately grabbed one.

At home, we asked her. Mei Mei when you seated on the bicycle, what were you doing? She gave us the embarrassed look and did the “sleeping action” Hahaha
